In honor of Valentine’s Day…

“Fickleness”

Oh weak, fickle Heart! Why choose now to stray?
Plagued by sighs — but are they such a torment
That you should abandon hope for good? Nay!
They but strengthen you ‘gainst greater laments.

Though his indifference towards you lies there
For you to see, ’tis certainly not new
Nor unexpected. The weather is fair;
No tempest in his heart, no rains of rue.

But oh, Heart! I do now confess my doubt
Of your constancy. You shine as the moon,
Waxing and waning; your love’s light goes out
To dark eve, only to be relit soon.

For gaining his love is a worthy dream,
But do you possess the strength the task deems?

…Yes, I realize that’s not the greatest poem ever. But it really isn’t meant to be. 😛

I wrote that a few months back as a form of stress relief and self-mockery (which can often go hand in hand). I was working on another poem for Valentine’s Day, but I’m not so sure that I’ll have time to finish it. So instead, I decided to post the sappiest, most ridiculous one that I’ve written up through now. It was a close contest, but this one won out in the end…hehe.

At any rate, life has been busy, as usual. I keep getting more work thrown at me, and while I’ve been able to get through all of it so far, I’m beginning to wonder how I’m going to keep up at this pace. I’ll survive, of course, but it probably won’t be very pleasant at times…

Still, that’s my own fault for taking so much on all at once, I suppose.

At any rate, I should probably also mention that I had a follow-up meeting of my NaNoWriMo group (at my college, the Student Activities Board actually encouraged students to take part of NaNoWriMo this past year…only three of us really participated and made it through, but still). That was interesting, though it didn’t really last long, and there really wasn’t much said at the meeting. But the recognition of our accomplishment made me feel rather proud, so I was somewhat happy for that…especially considering that right before I went, I re-read part of my NaNo novel, and…yeah…it’s really, REALLY bad… 😛

So yes, those are my updates for now. Nothing very exciting, but…hey, what did you expect? 😉

  1. NaNo novels are supposed to be bad 😛 I’m sure it’s not as bad as mine is!
